Tomasz Wachowicz przed Songo Conference Center The conference "Group Decision and Negotiation," organized in a hybrid format by the University of Tokyo from June 11th to June 15th this year, allowed the entire GDN community to meet in person, traditionally within the university's walls, after a two-year break due to the COVID pandemics. A significant group of scientists and researchers from Poland, including members of the N.EA. team participated in the GDN conference. As part of the thematic stream "Preference modeling and decision support in GDN," which is organized every year by Prof. Danielle Moraise (Federal University of Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil) and Prof. Tomasz Wachowicz (University of Economics in Katowice), three presentations by team members were delivered:

  • Tomasz Wachowicz, Ewa Roszkowska, Marzena Filipowicz-Chomko: Using unfolding analysis and MARS approach for generating a scoring system from a group preference information.
  • Ewa Roszkowska, Tomasz Wachowicz, Marzena Filipowicz-Chomko: Identifying Decision-Making Style. Do REI-20 and GDMS Measure the Same?
  • Tomasz Wachowicz, Marek Czekajski: A group decision-aiding protocol for selecting a post-industrial
cultural tourist product in Czeladź Commune in Poland.

SOR'21From September 22 to 24, 2021, the 16th international conference on operations research was organized by the Slovenian Operational Research Society. The epidemics situation made the organizers conduct it in a remote form as an online event. The conference schedule is available at the conference website: https://sor.fov.um.si/. In the SOR'21 conference, the representatives of the University of Economics in Katowice and the N.EA team were participating. A regular social event for the SOR conference is also a piano concert performed by prof. Tadeusz Trzaskalik from University of Economics in Katowice.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, an international conference on Group Decision and Negotiation 2020 was canceled.

Group Decision and Negotiation is an international conference organized yearly by the INFORMS section on Group Decision and Negotiation. In 2020, it was scheduled to be held on June 7th-11th in Toronto. Prof. Gregory Kersten, Ewa Roszkowska and Tomasz Wachowicz, the N.EA team members, are permanent members of the program committee of GDN conferences. The conference presentations are issued as Springer proceedings in the Lecture Notes on Business Information Processing series, and despite the conference cancellation, the submissions which passed the revision process will be published in LNBIP this year too.

More information about the conference can be found on an official webpage: http://gdnconference.org/gdn2020/
